Explorers Club Live Mural

"Thalassic Divine” created as part of a special collaboration between Pangeaseed Foundation and The Explorers Club for the United Nations World Oceans Week.

Location: New York City | 40.7128° N, 74.0060° W

Artist statement: "All life originally came from the sea, and all life today depends on the health of the oceans. Referring to this reality, I chose to depict a female personification of the ocean with a tall ship perched atop her head, backed by a partially shattered nimbus of stained glass made up of reef life.

The ship represents man’s relationship to the sea which can take the form of either positive exploration or harmful exploitation. The stained glass reflects the ocean’s fragility and current damaged state as an irreplaceable natural wonder.

It was a really unique experience to create this work entirely live over four days at the Explorers Club in New York City for the United Nations World Oceans Week in collaboration with PangeaSeed Foundation."
